Update 11/14/22: Interior

I made a dash panel overlay to cover the cutouts where I removed the gauges and switches. I sprayed the console with wrinkle paint so the finish matches the dashboard.

I wanted to soften the interior and give it a more finished look, so I installed felt carpeting on the rear firewall, sills and center tunnel. Using plywood, I made panels for the passenger side to even out the floor and covered them with the felt fabric. They drop into place but eventually I’ll want to fasten them down. The felt fabric and panels only added a few pounds, much less than automotive carpeting and padding.

I’ll use a more durable covering on the driver’s side floor—maybe aluminum diamond plate near the pedals for better traction.

I have a small android tablet to display mph, engine speed and other data from the EFI controller. The tablet will mount on the column in a locking holder. In the center console I have gauges for fuel, oil pressure and oil temperature.

I still have the original door panels but they are very warped and won’t look good with the new interior styling, but I can use them as templates and make a new set of panels.

I also finished wiring the front and rear lights. A good suggestion was to make the brake lights work even if other power to the car is off. I installed the reverse switch in the transmission and mounted LED backup lights.
