I had some problems with my spray gun after I tried a new cup system and stopped before putting a 2nd coat on some parts. The door jambs have good coverage so I’ll get a professional respray on just the outside before applying the Martini racing livery.
After almost 2 years without running, during which I replaced all the wiring and did much of the final assembly, the thermostat was stuck closed which required pulling the engine and taking the timing belt off (nice design Audi) but I took the opportunity to respray the rear chassis along with some brackets and other parts. I installed a remote thermostat housing so I can change the thermostat easily if it gets stuck again. The engine temperature looks good now.
I 3d printed some vent grills and trim pieces for a more oem look, replacing many of the mesh screens on the front body. I installed a set of Plastics 4 Performance polycarbonate windows in the doors to keep with the lightweight racing theme. The windows are molded with the correct curvature and roll up and down. The rear window I cut from 3/16 polycarbonate and applied a black border before mounting. The rear quarter windows are 1/8 polycarbonate.
The car still needs a shakedown and tuning at highway speeds. The fuel injection’s self-learning should get the fuel table close but a dyno session might be in order. I’m also working out some cold start issues which require a lot of cranking.
It’s a race against the weather in my area since the tires on the car are not suitable for rain.

Looks really good Aaron!
Thanks!
