Update 9/2/22: Improved brake performance

I have the front brakes working much better after installing new pads and deglazing the Wilwood rotors. I purchased the brake kit way back when and over the years the pads and rotors were exposed to lots of body filler dust and brake fluid contamination. The 1.25″ bore master cylinder gives the best balance of pedal travel versus effort.

I did a full 40 minutes of driving yesterday and things are coming together: no stalls at idle, the clutch seems to be smoothing out after badly glazing it at first with the poor initial throttle setup, water temperature was fine in 88-degree weather with some stop and go driving, throttle response is good, power steering works great, car seems to track straight. Next time I have the car out, I’ll park in a nice location and take some pictures showing the current progress.

I’m accumulating parts to rewire the chassis and fuel injection this fall for a well thought out, splice free harness. I’ll pull the suspension and paint the front and rear frames where the paint is flaking and damaged from brake fluid. I’m going to carpet the interior and make a set of simple door panels for a more finished interior.

Maybe next spring I’ll be ready for the exterior paint and Martini Racing livery decals.

Hallelujah.
