The motor mount and throttle body changes were both big successes. The throttle is MUCH easier to modulate and there is almost no vibration through the new motor mounts. I might want to tweak the throttle body bell crank size but drivability is more affected by the poor idle so I need to fix that first.
The clutch pedal is very light and doesn’t have much feel, so it’s still difficult to feather it at the engagement point but before I get a bigger clutch master cylinder, I need to make the car idle better because it often stalls when I stop. I’ll consult Wilwood before throwing parts at the car because I’m using their master cylinder and pedal. The clutch master cylinder is available in several larger sizes.
I’m going to move the air intake so I don’t have intake growl in my left ear when I’m driving. I can’t hear much else. I picked up an airbox from the junkyard that might work. The filter size was used on Chevy 8-cylinder cars and a K&N filter option is available for less restriction.
One of the idler pulleys on the engine is squeaking badly. I’m hoping it’s one of the pulleys for the serpentine belt and not one of the timing belt pulleys.
After today’s drive, the 20-year-old right front tire was flat so new tires are a high priority. The rubber is so hard that with less than 10 PSI the sidewall is barely collapsed. I just filled them less than a week ago.
I meant to take video of my drive today but forgot to start recording so I might try to get some tomorrow.
