Installed replacement valve covers in crackle red finish with new gaskets, hardware, grommets and sealant. Installed newer style Audi/VW pencil coils and adapters. The newer coils are supposed to be more reliable, better spark and replacements are less expensive.
The engine looks like new inside with no varnish or sludge even though it’s supposed to have 43k miles. According to LKQ, this engine came from a Euro spec car that was used in one of the Transformers movies. After filming, the car couldn’t be registered on the street so it was sold to a parts yard where I bought the engine…at least that’s the story.
I’m working on the serpentine belt hookup for the alternator. Unfortunately to install a bracket for the idler pulley, I need to remove the coolant pipes on the front of the engine so I need to drain the cooling system (again).
