Update 6/9/21

The new idle valve is working. After adjustments to the fuel injection software the car starts and idles without having to touch the pedal. I fixed several coolant leaks. There is an oil leak from the righthand valve cover which is dripping on the exhaust manifold and making some smoke. The catch can is also venting vapor.

I tried out the auto tune feature of TunerStudio which makes on the fly adjustments to the VE table. The feature doesn’t really work without the wideband O2 sensors unless the mixture is already very close. Without any load on the engine I can’t tune any of the cells in the VE table except the bottom two rows so I’ll need to make the car road legal if I want to do more tuning outside of a dyno.

In the first video you can hear the rpms ‘hang’ after I blip the throttle. This is one sign of an incorrect mixture—overly rich in my case, except at idle.

The car is registered as a collector vehicle so it can be driven on the street, but I need to hook up lights, parking brake and a long list of other items. A majority of the fabrication is done so I should be able to get through the ‘road legal’ items this summer. I won’t be ready for paint and the Martini Racing livery decals until I’m further along so I don’t risk damage.

Warming up engine.

Engine at operating temperature.
