I worked on the Lancia bodywork yesterday. I used a chemical stripper on the passenger side door jamb and A/B-pillars but the original Lancia paint doesn’t want to come off even with stripper. It took four applications of heavy duty stripper to get down to the metal. I’ll strip the paint on the corresponding areas on the driver side but on the doors themselves I’ll just scuff the original paint and paint over it with urethane primer because the factory paint is really solid and I don’t want to deal with the mess.
I feathered in the fiberglass I applied on the front fenders where I moved the wheel arches forward and I’m finishing those areas with body filler. I filled in the roof panel gaps on the passenger side and front of the car using fiberglass strand reinforced filler. I’m filling the remaining roof panel gaps tonight. I am using an electric vibrator sander to knock down some of the higher spots which works well for small areas and has a vacuum feature that picks up some of the dust. The fiberglass body panels have some flex in flat areas so I won’t be able to block sand a lot of the body. It’s good that I’m painting the car white where slight irregularities won’t show up.
I found a place in Italy which makes 037 Martini livery decals and ordered a set. This car is wearing a set of the decals I purchased.

Getting close, it feels like!
