I solved the throttle cable problem that resulted from the new throttle body. I made a simple bracket that will allow me to run the throttle cable so it pulls down on the throttle lever. It means a little longer cable with a few turns around the engine but nothing too drastic that should cause the cable to wear out. I’m going to run the new cable tonight. I will grease the cable really well so that it doesn’t wear and to keep the drag down. I still plan to add a second return spring on the throttle arm so that the throttle will always return to the closed position.
I also mounted two more of the adjustable body braces on the rear quarters and the quarter panels are really solid now. I really like the new position of the quarter panels and it should be easy to use that 3M bonding adhesive to fix them permanently to the steel chassis. I will have to section the panels and stretch them to cover a gap where they meet the rear body clamshell but the current position is the best compromise. I have AeroCatch 3 ‘Shear and Tension’ body latches to install where the rear clamshell meets the rear quarter panels. The latches were very pricey but I couldn’t find anything else that I liked. The 17” wheels and tires are a tight fit in the wheel openings but I don’t think they will rub.
