Update 7/15/16

I installed the Moroso expansion tank, throttle cable bracket and IAC valve. I modified the Ford IAC valve to accept barb connectors but I haven’t tested the idle since I installed the valve. I’m using a throttle return spring but the pedal doesn’t return as quickly as I would like so I have to rethink the position of the spring.

One of the coolant hose connectors was very close to the exhaust and even though the exhaust is wrapped I don’t think the plastic Audi OEM connector would survive the heat so I cut the metal spigot on the Audi coolant pipe at the rear of the cylinder heads and welded it where it is pointing in a more favorable direction.

I have a flameproof insulating pad that I would like to use on the flat metal surface where the expansion tank is mounted in order to keep the exhaust heat from turning that surface into a huge hotplate. The point of that metal surface is to keep radiant heat isolated which comes from the primary muffler and also to create a surface where I can mount the expansion tank. I need to do some research to find the best way to attach the pad.

I still need to mount and install the oil separator. I was going to weld a bracket to the rear chassis down tubes but the separator is small and I’ve seen where some people have it self-supported by the 5/8″ breather hoses. I was going to vent the outlet of the separator to the air through a K&N filter but no modern car would do that and I’m concerned that it might create a film of oil on the engine from the vapor that comes out of the separator. Also race organizations usually require that liquids are vented into a catch can.

The axles shipped yesterday from The Driveshaft Shop. Also I ordered the rear valance/bumper, door enlargements and rear lateral scoops from Pitlane Motorsport in Austria. I don’t have immediate plans to install the rear bumper but I decided to order it while the part is still available.

Here are some pictures of the items as they are being installed.
