Update 1/14/14

I welded a tube to the dash bar and the Speedway column slips inside. The tube has a slot and pinch bolt to secure the column. I installed the heater box—I need the defroster and heat for when I take the car on the street. I’ll weld some metal to the top of the center tunnel which is thick enough to secure the shifter box. The dash is wedged in place because I still need to weld the brackets on either end to the roll hoop. The last picture shows where the shifter cables pass through the rear firewall. Sunday work items -Applied sound deadener spray on the inside front ‘firewall’ and footwells -Painted and assembled lower steering shaft (hopefully for the last time) -Mounted brake pedal with locking fasteners -Cut hole in rear firewall, installed boot and ran shifter cables -Swapped 1.5″ steering wheel spacer for .25″ spacer Continue reading Update 1/13/14

Update 1/8/14

The Wilwood brake pedal wasn’t a straight bolt up to the aftermarket brake servo so I bought a kit with several threaded rods and clevis parts but I figured I would still need to drill/tap and fabricate a few items. As it turns out there was a combination of parts in the kit that bolted right up to the Wilwood pedal after removing the Wilwood factory clevis. So now I have clutch and brake cylinder actuation.
