Update 11/17/2013

I didn’t like the angle in my knees when seated in the driver’s seat but unfortunately the seat was all the way back against the harness bar so I moved the bar back five inches towards the rear firewall. This allowed me to move the seat to a more comfortable position.

Unfortunately the new position requires a longer column and a different column angle. However the distance to the pedals is much better. I ordered a narrower Kirkey mini cup seat, Cableshift.com cable shifter and Speedway column. My sheet metal dashboard is ready for pick up tomorrow.

I did some work under the cowl this week. I completely disassembled the wiper mechanism, removed rust and oxidation then assembled everything with a new coat of epoxy paint and fresh grease. The mechanism was previously frozen but now moves freely. I painted the rain deflector flap and installed both parts. I removed the original paint around the windshield and applied a self-etching primer.

I hoped to do all the work with the windshield in place but it’s getting a lot of wear and tear. When the car is finally ready for exterior paint I may also replace the windshield.
