Update 10/15/13

I finished sheet metal work on the front firewall and sealed all the seams. I am waiting for the POR15 WhiteCote to arrive to paint the front firewall and A-pillars.

I received the Howe extended ball joints yesterday. They are really nice with absolutely no play—as precise as a spherical bearing with no springs or bushings to create play.

I was thinking about what connections I want to run through the passenger compartment versus what I will run through the air duct that runs underneath the car. Here is what I decided.

Air duct: radiator coolant, flexible power steering lines, flexible fuel lines
Passenger compartment: rear brake lines, battery cable, wiring

I’m not sure how to secure the fuel and steering lines so that they don’t chafe. I considered using hard lines with flares through the air duct but the added connections just seem like candidates for leaks. Maybe I can pair up the lines in vinyl tubes to protect them like what is done with some stainless brake lines.

I’m pretty sure I will need to move the battery tray that sits behind the radiator to allow space for the radiator hoses. I’m just not sure where I will put it. Hopefully I can keep that location but just move it off to one side.
