Update 8/6/13

I stripped all the parts off the front of the chassis so I can prime and paint forward of the passenger compartment. As you can see below, before painting I need to do final welding, cap several open tubes and do some sheet metal work where I had to cut into the inner fenders for the larger diameter tires.

I am installing subframe connectors to tie the lower part of the front frame to the lower part of the rear frame so that they don’t spread apart under bending load. Its an extra precaution because the factory uni-body is made from very low strength steel and is only spot welded in places. The front and rear subframes are very strong making the factory body the weakest link without additional strengthening. The front and rear frames also tie into the roll cage. I ordered self etching primer for the bare metal and VHT white epoxy topcoat paint.
