Update 1/29/13

Good news and bad news. Bodywork is on the way from Austria and should arrive in the next week. In the long run this will save lots of labor on the body fabrication. I will have to adjust the front wheel opening to fit the modern tire size I’m running in the front.

I mounted Koni adjustable coil over shocks in the rear replacing the canted shocks. I will get much better vertical travel and a more linear spring rate. Clearance will be tight to the axles so I may need to adjust the position with a different lower bracket when I put the custom axles together.

I finished the steering linkage which utilizes Borgeson fully splined joints throughout. There is only a single weld in the steering to attach the spline for the quick release hub.

I purchased factory Corvette calipers and rotors for the rear which are direct fit to the Corvette spindles. I may sacrifice a slight amount of braking to an opposed piston caliper, but this car is not intended for that level of driving. Up front where I expect most of the braking forces, I’m running Wilwood six piston calipers. Calipers, rotors and stainless brake lines are fitted throughout and I installed the master cylinder. I need to run all the brake hard lines and install the proportioning valve.

The bad news: I purchased a set of Corbeau fixed back race seats plus brackets. Unfortunately they don’t fit with enough headroom for me to safely operate the car. Even with the entire bottom seat pad removed my head is practically poking through the sun roof opening. I’m still working out whether I want to try and return them for a restocking fee or sell them locally.
