I decided that the car looks better with the side skirts than without. I need to laminate a flat filler panel and attach it to the upright piece behind the front wheel. Afterwards I’ll cover the back side of the side skirts with CSM to fully encapsulate any exposed wood core components. I fabricated a lightweight bracket which is attached to the engine cradle to support the rear of each side skirt.
